This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the identical stature as pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future away from worry.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people yelling “6-7” – inspired by a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the character of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Annually, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
