Recent Details Come to Light Regarding the Discovery of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains

Fresh particulars have surfaced about the untimely passing of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence property on Sunday.

The Initial Report

A source indicates referencing a person close to the family, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

Upon entering the house, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held and denied bail.

Disputed Reports

The confidential informant challenged several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.

Furthermore pushed back against circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement applies to descriptions of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

As stated by law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
