Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 charges include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities are urging anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
