Beloved Performer Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.

The actor Pat Finn had a key role in the well-loved series "The Middle".

US performer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to media reports.

"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones said in a statement.

They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable TV Career

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He also had a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous well-known programs, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

He was most recognized for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies are "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"He taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared publicly.

Pat Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
